Narrated Drawing Videos

Portraits and Facial Features: Narrated Real-Time Drawing Videos

Below you'll find narrated real-time drawing videos on portraits and facial features like eyes, lips, and more. Each drawing is created from scratch, guiding you step by step from the first lines to the final touches, with no parts skipped or sped up. The entire process is narrated in real time. Our art instructor will walk you through her workflow, showing you techniques for creating realistic skin textures and bringing eyes to life. You will also find pencil sketches drawn by our instructor - the same ones she uses in these tutorials - to help you follow along more easily.

Hair: Narrated Real-Time Drawing Videos

In this section, you'll find videos explaining how to draw hair with graphite pencils. Our instructor walks you through her workflow, making the process easy to follow - even for complete beginners (look for the thumbnail with the graduation cap logo). You can share your progress in the comment box under the video descriptions and get feedback and guidance from our art teacher.

Animals: Narrated Real-Time Drawing Videos

This section features real-time narrated drawing videos of animals. The artist guides you through each step, explaining the techniques she uses and the pencils she selects. For each tutorial, you'll find the instructor's pencil sketch along with reference photos if they were used. If sketching isn’t your thing yet, or you find it challenging, you can skip to shading by downloading and printing the pencil sketch to shade over.

Objects: Narrated Real-Time Drawing Videos

The following real-time videos feature everyday objects, providing valuable demonstrations to help you master different textures. Our art instructor explains each step in detail, showing you how to achieve the best possible results. You can upload your artwork in the comment section to receive feedback and guidance directly from the artist. Every drawing is created from scratch, but each tutorial includes a downloadable pencil sketch to help you follow along. If you are a VERY beginner and thinking about where to start, look for the graduation cap logo in the upper-right corner of thumbnails

Inverted Drawings: Narrated Real-Time Drawing Videos

Inverted (Negative) Drawings flip the usual light and dark values, making bright areas appear dark and vice versa. Once digitally inverted, they reveal a realistic image. This technique is especially useful when you want a black background while keeping the rest of the drawing minimal. It also trains your eye to see tones differently, improves shading accuracy, and deepens your understanding of contrast. Unlike drawing on black paper, which doesn’t always achieve the desired effect, this method ensures a striking and well-balanced result. Plus, the final reveal is always a fascinating surprise!

As our member, you'll have access to our free Image Inverter Tool to instantly invert your reference photos and drawings right in your browser!

Non-Narrated Drawing Videos

Even non-narrated real-time videos can offer a valuable learning experience. Simply watching, even without actively drawing, helps you absorb techniques and insights - making it a far more rewarding way to spend your time than just watching TV! These videos, sometimes lasting up to six hours, can reveal subtle tricks and techniques, encouraging you to analyze the process and develop the ability to figure things out on your own.

Written Tutorials with Pictures

If real-time videos aren’t your thing, this section provides a different way to learn. Here, you’ll find step-by-step written instructions with pictures for each stage of the process. You’ll also be able to download pencil sketches, view reference photos (if the drawing isn’t from scratch), and access even more free reference images to practice with using the same tutorials. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced artist, you can explore and improve your drawing skills at your own pace.
